Spooktacular Tree of Life Bracelet Tutorial

This month our very popular Tree of Life bracelet has turned scary and ghoulish in our all new Spooktacular Tree of Life bracelet. This bracelet is the perfect way to bring a little Halloween fun into your jewelry!! You can pick up a Spooktacular Tree of Life bracelet kit in Bead World stores or online here or gather your supplies and use our tutorial to make your own!

You will need:

Black waxed linen (4 x 40″)

Seed beads – We used a sizes 6 & 8 and created a mix of Halloween colors (approx. 10-14 grams)

Magnesite skulls (15-20)

Metal witch charms (15-20)

Tierra Cast skully button (1)

  1. String all four pieces of waxed linen through the button.

2. Place the button in the center of the waxed linen.

3. Tie all the strands in a basic overhand knot about ¼ inch below the button.

4. String three seed beads on to one strand.

5. Tie an overhand knot in the strand, about ¼ inch below the knot from step 3.  Make sure you catch all three beads in the knot.

6. Pull the knot tight, creating a beaded bundle.

7. Repeat steps 4-6 twice to create two more beaded bundles. Your bundles should be about ½ inch away from each other.  If you like a very full bracelet, you can place the bundles closer to each other.

8. String one skull and slide it up to the bundle that you just made.

9. Repeat steps 4-6 three times to create three more bundles.  The first bundle after the skull should be ¼ – ½ inch away from the skull so it has room to slide.

10. String one witch and slide it up to the bundle that you just made.

11. Keep repeating steps 4-10, making beaded bundles and adding skulls & witches, until you reach the desired length (about 1 inch shorter than your finished length).  Alternate the witch color each time so that both metals are dispersed throughout the bracelet.  Don’t be too worried about the space between the beaded bundles – it doesn’t have to be exact.

12. On the second strand, repeat steps 4-6 twice to create two bundles.  Try to start the first beaded bundle of each strand in a slightly different place.  This will distribute the beads throughout the bracelet.

13. Repeat steps 8-11 to finish your second strand.

14. On the third strand, repeat steps 4-6 to create one bundle.

15. Repeat steps 8-11 to finish your third strand.

16. On the fourth strand, you are starting with a skull, so repeat steps 8-11 to finish your fourth strand.

17. On the fifth strand, repeat steps 4-6 three times to create three bundles.

18. String one witch and slide it up to the bundle that you just made and repeat steps 4-6 three times to create three more bundles.  Then string one skull and slide it up to the bundle that you just made and repeat steps 4-6 three times to create three more bundles.  Keep repeating this pattern until you reach the desired length (about 1 inch shorter than your finished length) to finish your fifth strand.

19. On the sixth strand, repeat steps 4-6 twice to create two new bundles.

20. Repeat step 18 to finish your sixth strand.

21. On the seventh strand, repeat steps 4-6 to create one bundle.

22. Repeat step 18 to finish your seventh strand.

23. On the eighth strand, you are starting with a witch, so repeat step 18 to finish your eighth strand.

24. Gather all eight strands of waxed linen together and tie them in an overhand knot about ½ inch from where the beads stop.

25. Tie a second overhand knot with all eight strands of waxed linen, about one inch below the knot from step 24.  Make sure the button can just pass between the knots.

26. String one seed bead onto one of the end strands of waxed linen.  Tie an overhand knot under the bead.

27. Pull the knot tight.  Add a second seed bead and tie another overhand knot.  Cut off the excess waxed linen a few millimeters below the second seed bead.

28. Repeat steps 26-27 to add beads to all of the end strands of waxed linen.  This creates a beaded fringe-style tassel.

Ta-Da!! Your finished bracelet will look like this – isn’t it so cute? I love how fun and playful it is. It’s such a great way to get in the Halloween spirit, perfect for trick-or-treating!
